System: Clevo P157SM (Sager NP8255-S).I've just upgraded to Windows 10 Pro on my laptop and now the display refuses to turn off even if I lock the session or after the configured timeout (15 minutes on AC, 3 minutes on battery). It doesn't matter whether the laptop is plugged in.The utility causes the screen to switch off, but it comes back on immediately, suggesting spurious input from an input device. Turning off the trackpad and disconnecting any external mice or keyboard do not help.The laptop has a hotkey which switches off the display at the firmware level; a key press on the onboard keyboard turns it back on. The display stays off with this feature, eliminating the keyboard as a possible cause; however, it bypasses the OS and it doesn't allow any kind of ACPI control.I have no trouble putting the computer to sleep—the system stays asleep unless I wake it up. The computer will wake up from external device inputs but ignores input from the onboard keyboard and trackpad (this is normal) so this eliminates external hardware as a possibility.Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?Update: The issue seems to be caused by a userspace app as the monitor does turn off if left idle before I log into the machine. How do I isolate the guilty application?

This will ensure that the computer does not go to sleep mode.Select couple of minutes for this option “turn off the display”. Windows 10 Not Turning Off Display Windows 10

For anyone with this problemafter a few days and hours of trying and searching, i found a solution though linustechtips forum.It seems that its something USB related/connected.someone on Linus forums said that after unplugging his joystick, the timeout for his screens started working again.so i unplugged my Xbox controller and within 1min. My screens went off as they should:)so i guess that something is not working as it should in windows, and the reason for only a few having this problem is that they are using some sort of joystick/controller and it keep windows 'Active' somehowHope this will help a bit:).

Sep 21, 2015  Since upgrading from Windows 7 x64 to Windows 10, my monitor/display on my desktop will no longer go to sleep/turn off after the scheduled 5 minutes. I had no issues with this in Windows 7. I have updated the BIOS, video drivers, USB wireless mouse. Oct 2, 2017 - And this is Happening only on Windows 10 (I tried Windows 8.1 It worked. Date-8-14-2015 after a few hours of looking around and trial and error. Found this on razer site. If you do have a game controller of any type including game pads windows ten has a issue with them. So far this has worked the best for me. Razer orbweaverstealth was not letting my pc sleep, screen saver and screen timer work.

Hope this helps.Since I started using Windows 10 my computer will not go into sleep mode and my screen saver mode will not come on.This happens due to a compatibility issues between Joystick devices and Windows 10. To avoid this please disable the game controller device under Device Manager Human Interface Device HID-compliant Game Controller. However, do note that when you disablethe game controller, you might lose virtual joystick related features in Synapse. Same here, with Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick. Installing the most recent drivers, from the manufacturer's site, did no good obviously, since multiple brands of joysticks and controllers, and thus drivers, are exhibiting the same problem.On a side note, I noticed that when rebooting with the joystick plugged in, the OS refuses to see the joystick.

Computer Display Won't Turn Off

Go into Control Panel, and it is not in the Devices lineup. Triggering the search for new hardware will not find it. You must unplug the joystick,and then plug it back in again, to get the OS to register its presence.My point being that while plugged in, in either state (recognized by the OS or not), it causes the monitor to never go into sleep mode, and the system will never go into hibernate mode. Unplug the joystick, and leave it that way, and all is good (even withouta reboot), with sleep & hibernate.
